Giving Back

Dr. Kerr is passionate about using his dentistry skills to give back to his own community and beyond. Since the beginning of his career, he has been involved in numerous projects and service opportunities. The best way he gives back is by providing excellent care for patients, helping them to have a brighter smile, to keep their teeth for a lifetime, and to be free of infections caused by untreated teeth.

CDA Service Event

This was an event where people who didn’t have access to dental care were invited to come to a location in Stockton and be serviced by dentists and dental assistants who are members of the California Dental Association. Around 2,000 people were helped by 2000 volunteers including 400 dentists from throughout California. Dr. Kerr and his assistants Karen Sorenson and Brittany Shumather enjoyed sharing their talents.

While attending a dental seminar in Hawaii, Dr. Kerr met a woman at church who had made many colorful zippered cloth pouches. She had several hundred extras (WOW, how many did she make?) and asked if he would have any use for them. Thus came a project for his granddaughters to made dental kits for their brother to take on his mission to Africa and give to those who needed them. Since then there have been many projects here in Lodi that needed dental floss, toothpaste, and toothbrushes. Dr. Kerr is always willing and happy to supply those needs.

After graduation from Dental School, Dr. Kerr shared his newly acquired knowledge about caring for teeth on TV.

Educating Others

Dr. Kerr has had numerous opportunities to share his knowledge of dentistry with others. He has shared valuable information about preventive care with the Lodi community, has traveled internationally to teach dentistry concepts to students, and has even appeared on TV to teach the public about proper tooth care.
